Summary of the Article
This article focuses on Kiribati's President, Anote Tong, who is a small, softly spoken man from a small country - but he has a big problem and is increasingly finding he also has a big voice. Only when he goes to speak this time, he has a much bigger crowd than expected.
Thoughts, Emotions, and Observations about Political Activity in the Article
I liked the article because in the president's big speech about climate change, he makes a lot of metaphors, connects with the audience, and clearly gets the point across. The reason there was a bigger crowd was because of the visit to Kiribati by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon on his way to the Pacific Forum, and Mr Ban's shock at the damage rising sea levels had already done. I feel that it was fate and the president finally really spoke up dominantly.
How This Relates to or Affects Political Life in the Country
This relates to politics because in some countries the president may be a good politician but bot a good speaker. In the case of leading a country such as Kiribati, you need both skills. When authoritative people like Kiribati's president finally speak up, then they can connect to the country and make the country more united and sufficient.
